Wacheva Cultural Arts
(formerly known
as JFOB Cultural Arts) is proud to announce
the 2nd Central New York West African
Dance, Drum, Mask Workshop and Show of September 2005
was a success.
With the large turn out of dancers and
drummers from Rochester, Ithaca, Oswego, Syracuse, New
York City and more, we are well on our way to finding
a larger space to hold the workshops in September 2006.
Thank you all for your support and incredible love, passion
and commitment to learning African culture. The energy
that each and every one of you brought to the workshops
was inspiring, and enabled the classes to be so fun and
exciting. For those of us who have ever taken an African
dance class, we know that the energy of the students around
us has a profound affect on our class experience. When
the students of the class are able to come together in
joy, excitement and non-judgement, we're then able to
create a safe space which allows one to express the freedoms
of their spirit.
Wacheva Cultural Arts believes in creating this space
for dancers and drummers. We believe in the unity of the
dance and drum community. We thank you for your participation
and look forward to seeing you all again in September
2006.
