We offer daily classes at One Village Dance Centre in African, Salsa, Samba, Zumba (latin-style fitness), Kazoon (afro-modern), NIA, Belly dance, African drumming and a women's drum class.

One Village Dance Centre is located in the Westcott Business District, in Syracuse, NY, at 117 Harvard Place.

Directions: Turn onto Harvard Place from Westcott Street (at the corner of Boom Babies and Mom's Diner). Turn left into the parking lot next to Domino's Pizza. We are located in the back building in the parking lot. Enter at the storefront glass door facing Harvard Pl.)

Description of Classes

Mondays
5:30-6:30 pm: ZUMBA
(Latin-style fitness)

Combines Latin and international music in dance routines, using forms such as: salsa, meringue, reggaeton, belly dancing, hip hop, and integrating aerobic and fitness interval training. Zumba is for everyone; no dance experience is needed. A fun and exciting way to move to great music while dancing your way to a more tone and sculpted body.

6:30-7:30 pm: AFRICAN DRUM
Traditional African rhythms and melodies on the djembe drum. *Drums are provided; you are welcome to bring your own too. Instructor Biboti Ouikahilo

Tuesdays
5:30-6:30 pm: SALSA
Mixes Afro-Caribbean rhythms and movements with stylish modern dancing. Learn to have fun with one of the most popular dances in the world! No partner necessary. Instructor Eric Valentin

6:30-7:30 pm: KAZOON (Afro-modern)
Blends West African and modern movements for a spirited expression that the dancer at heart or the seasoned dancer can enjoy. Designed to activate the mind, body and spirit from the inside out, and to improve balance and flexibility, Kazoon dance will leave you feeling rejuvenate, refreshed and reconnected. 7:30-8:30 pm: WOMEN'S DRUM
A sacred space dedicated to learning djembe hand techniques, basic drum patterns, melodies and songs, and building sisterhood. *Drums are provided; you are welcome to bring your own too. Instructor Jill Ouikahilo

Wednesdays
6-7:30 pm: WEST AFRICAN DANCE - Beginner
A form of exercise, social gathering, therapy and cultural experience. By relating the dance to exercise, it welcomes anyone who is inspired to move their body to the beat of live drums. Instructor Biboti Ouikahilo

7:30-8:30 pm: SAMBA
A lively, joyful and rhythmical dance of Brazilian origin with a musical composition based on a 2/4 beat. Instructor Yomee Lee

Thursdays
5:30-6:30 pm: NIA
(Neuromuscular integrative action or movement with purpose) A body, mind, spirit practice that invites you to move your body the way it is designed to move and personalize your movement so that you can condition your body your way. Nia combines the dance arts, martial arts, yoga, and alignment techniques to condition and awaken your whole body. Prepare to experience fitness that is pleasurable and joyful rather than effortful and painful. Instructor Elaine Wolf

6:30-7:30 pm: CARDIO SALSA
Weaves salsa and traditional Cuban movement into a dynamic and exciting class full of exotic musical flavors. Features aerobic interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body utilizing easy to follow dance steps. Instructor Roberto Perez

Fridays
5:00-6:00 pm: AFRICAN DRUM

Saturdays
11:00-12:00 pm: Kids African Arts & Culture Program, Ages 3-12
Students will continue to learn more drum rhythms, dance steps, traditional instruments, song and history. Students will have the opportunity ask questions and take notes during the class. Instructor Biboti Ouikahilo

1-2:30 pm: WEST AFRICAN DANCE - Intermediate
A form of exercise, social gathering, therapy and cultural experience. By relating the dance to exercise, it welcomes anyone who is inspired to move their body to the beat of live drums. Instructor Biboti Ouikahilo

2:30-3:30 pm: BELLY DANCE
A dynamic and diverse art form, incorporating a wide array of styles and movements from the folk, social and classical traditions of numerous Middle Eastern cultures. Includes movements that involve isolating different parts of the body (hips, shoulders, stomach etc).
